In-Plant Fleet Management System

Fleet Management is a function which allows companies which rely on transportation in their business to remove or minimize the risks associated with vehicle investment, improving efficiency, productivity and reducing their overall transportation costs, providing 100% compliance with government legislation (duty of care) and many more. These functions can be dealt with by either an in-house fleet-management department or an outsourced fleet-management provider.

Scheduled delivery, control over unauthorized movement, faster contingency arrangement in the event of breakdown and tracking anyone-anywhere-anytime are the elements that, if optimized on a national fleet, can significantly improve the bottom line of any transport company. Fleet Vigil’s Web Based platform comes in very handy, providing a rich menu of tracking and other utilities, thus ensuring a superior return on your investment.

The most basic function in all fleet management systems, is the vehicle tracking component. This component is usually GPS based, but sometimes it can be based on a Cellular triangulation platform. Once vehicle location, direction and speed are determined from the GPS components, additional tracking capabilities transmit this information to a Fleet Management software application. Methods for data transmission include both terrestrial and satellite. Satellite communications, while more expensive, are critical if vehicle tracking is to work in remote environments without interruption

Benefits:

Optimises costs with better route planning, cuts down overtime and increases efficiency.
Lets you schedule service calls or deliveries based on the vehicle closest to the destination.
Allows you to handle larger job loads with ease.
Improves flexibility and lets you make on-the-spot decisions on fleet management.
Eliminates the need for expensive GIS and web-servers.
